Dear researchers and collectors,
Dear readers,

Vietnam Numismatics Magazine Issue 3 - April 2018, reaches you around the Lunar New Year of the Dog, a moment of transition between cycles in the movement of all things - plants, earth, sky, and the universe. At this special and meaningful moment when the old year turns into the new, on behalf of the Editorial Board of the magazine, I would like to express my sincere thanks to researchers, collectors, and readers who have contributed to and accompanied us through the two issues already published. We wish you all good health, happiness, and even greater success throughout the coming year, 2018.

In this third issue, we present an overview of the printing techniques used for Vietnamese banknotes; introduce and analyze the Military Scrip note of the patriotic scholar Phan Bội Châu; following the topic of Gia Long Thông Bảo coins (in Issue 2), we present articles on Minh Mạng Thông Bảo coins, as well as images of some Cảnh Hưng coins and Nguyễn dynasty reward coins; and the Trường Sơn coupons - a subject of growing interest among modern researchers and collectors. In addition, the magazine also features several other interesting articles.

Since the release of our January issue, we have received a wealth of articles and constructive feedback, adhering to the editorial standards established in our debut. In addition, the Editorial Board also received many letters and documents addressing issues of interest to readers; we will gradually introduce them to our readers.

The Editorial Board looks forward to your continued contributions of articles and valuable insights as we move forward together with future issues.

With our sincere thanks!

Hanoi, Spring of the Dog [戊戌], 2018
On behalf of the Editorial Board,
