Mai Ngọc Phát, Vietnam Numismatics #2 (01-2018), p.2

Dear researchers and collectors,
Dear readers,

You are now holding the first issue of Vietnam Numismatics (October 2017), published for internal circulation. Since its publication, the Editorial Board has received a lot of valuable feedback from contributors and readers, including suggestions and critical reviews of the articles' content, cover design, layout, and printing. The Editorial Board would like to sincerely thank all of you. We will continue to improve both the content and presentation of the magazine to meet the trust and expectations of our readers, near and far.

In the first issue, we provided an overview and introduced a number of coins from key periods of Vietnamese history. In this second issue, we delve more deeply into specific themes, such as the correspondence of the Nguyễn Lords in the development of monetary relations with Japan; an introduction to Central Vietnam credit notes; a clear identification of the color variations of these notes across different issuance periods; and an overview of the graphic art found on paper currency. As stated in the previous issue, we have consistently upheld a working principle based on respect for individual viewpoints; the full publication of authors' critical opinions in a spirit of respect for truth; the clarification of issues that remain unresolved; and, in good faith, the invitation of critical feedback and debate in order to reach consensus on matters that have previously been controversial.

The enthusiastic support of researchers, collectors, and our valued readers is precisely the motivation that drives us to continue publishing future issues of the magazine as planned.

Vietnam Numismatics will continue to accompany you!

Our sincere thanks!

Hanoi, December 2017
On behalf of the Editorial Board,
Mai Ngọc Phát
